    Uploading Help Pleeeeeez !!!

    Hey guys......

I have been going nutz over this network section trying to configure my settings to upload the page...

I had the web page up and running on my isp, then decided to join a host. but I cant get past the find CGI-BIN directory and find Web Root Directory. Every time it brings up an error saying my server must be down......blah blah blah...(sorry going a bit insane...lol) I have tried changing every setting possible and now I have just confused and frustrated myself into a corner. I have gone through the forums but found nothing except export my network settings. So I have done that and hopefully some-one can help !!!!!!

I created the file CGI-BIN on the hosts administrator page,

CATALOGURL http://www.bargainbuilding.com/ would normally be http://www.bargainbuilding.com/acatalog/
CGIBINURL http://barseao7/wwwroot/Scripts/ has to be wrong. Normally this would be http://www.bargainbuilding.com/cgi-bin/

Unless acatalog is inside the cgi-bin folder FTPPATHFROMCGITOCATALOG /barseao7/cgi-bin/acatalog/ would be either empty OR /barseao7/acatalog/ OR ../acatalog/ try in that order.

Thanks very much for replying Bill....Unfortunately no luck....I have also emailed the host so hopefully they have some answers.... I am in Australia so you probably don't have my host over there. (Hostingshop)

I am still on the trial version of this program and like it very much...will probably purchase it after it expires but when you come across glitches like this it kinda puts you off, not that it's Actinic's fault but it could be a little bit more user friendly, or i could grow a brain.....

Can any tell me that they are happy with this software ?? and can they then tell me how to FIX IT !!!!....lol

Somewhere on the Actinic home page probably downloads there are a list of actinic requirements for the server, it may be worth checking this out and sending it to your host

Just logged on to your web site and it looks like you get directed to http://xxx.com without the normall www.xxx.com maybe worth trying without the www and see if that works

Thanks Chris, i found the page you were talking about and will pass on the information to my host.

Does it matter where the cgi-bin folder on the server is ?? Initially it didn't have a cgi-bin folder, i created one but maybe i put it in the wrong position

yes, it does matter where the cgi-bin is (and it also has to be able to run perl scripts).

Where did you put. From what I can see, it isn't at the same location as the acatalog folder.

Broken Brains, you'll need to show us your network setup if there's any chance of us helping you. Export it to a file and then copy and paste it here. remember to ovrewrite your username and password.

One thing that's common to both these people with problems is that they appear to be blocking access to web pages. (i.e. I get a 403 forbidden response when I try to access the pages / directories).

If this is the case then I suspect actinic will fall over during it's checking routine as it won't be able to verify that the catalog url etc have been entered correctly.

Try turning off the access blockng and see if that fixes things.

                      block access

                      Hi mike

Try turning off the access blockng and see if that fixes things.

                      whereabouts do you block access?

                      Cheers for your support

Not within actinic, but somewhere in your hosting setup.

If you click this link http://www.roksport.com/acatalog/ you get a 403 access denied response (although this may be because your acatalog folder is empty).

                          It is there at;

                          http://www.roksport.com/acatalog/shop.html

But the scripts aren't working so it looks like a permissions or path to cgi-bin issue.

Make sure the path to cgi-bin and perl are both correct.

Try opening permissions on cgi-bin right up. Should be 755 but start with 777 and work back.

That seems to be because there's no index.html in there. The store top is shop.html.

I see my "Donationware" NorCascade is being used.

the view cart is working so the the path to the cgi-bin must be correct.

Again I'm confused by the FTPPATHFROMCGITOCATALOG this should really be ../acatalog/ or left blank.

What does the structure look like in the website when you ftp in? Is it a cpanel setup with:

                              public_html:
                              - acatalog
                              - cgi-bin
