    Order Numbers

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help...

I can see that order numbers are basically sequential with the customer's initials and postcode at the front. My client has spotted this also and has asked if the order numbers could be made randomly as they kind of give the game away to customers how well his site is doing in selling his product.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Neil,

DOnt think you can make them random but you can amend it fairly easily. We used this link (http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=4741) to amend the order number to start with 801. Thus order 18876 would become 80118876.

You can also update the order number through Troubleshooting to make it a superficially high figure!

Thanks Dave, I can see what you are doing there.

I think that I'll change ours so that the number from the counter is 6 characters long in the order number and then put some other digit at the end. Will have the effect of making the order numbers appear to go up 10 times as quickly as the actual one stored in the counter.

A word of caution if you're invoicing from actinic. The VAT man will want to see invoices with sequential numbering so be careful they don't think you're hiding 9 out of 10 invoices from them.
