    Mail Problem with 1&1

I am trying to set my site up on a One and One Linux server. I have managed to get everything working but the mail. I get the following error when I try and test the connection:

    Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
    server: passed
    connection: failed
    sockets: passed
    communications: failed
    authorisation: failed
    message: Connection refused

I can set up a mail account using the IMAP option in Outlook using the same auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk SMTP server with the same user id and password that I have in Actinic and this can successfully send an recieve mail.

    Anyone overcome this problem before?

1 and 1 settings used here in Actinic (which works on the server) - auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk - requires authentication NOT ticked. Working successfully for the last year and a bit.

In outlook (POP3) (which works on the local PC and relays through the server) auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk w/ userid and password.

      Success - Thank You...

Thanks for your reply. I am so glad you named the SMTP server you use as this is not quoted anywhere in One & Ones mail stuff (that I could find) and I was trying with the auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk server.
