    Continous Upload Problems

    Uploading Site Files & Site

Has anyone experienced continous problems with actinic hanging on files whilst loading a number of files whilst uploading. I have been having continous problems now with uploading, refreshing, troubleshooting for the last 3 weaks

and also having the following connection error:

You do not have write permissions to the cgi-bin directory "/www/cgi-bin/" or it does not exist.

no matter how many times I feel the site it is right it occurs again even when I have manually uploaded or refreshed

I have checked with my ISP and made tests ! all fine that end

I have many ways to resolve but can take a long time to get right again when does stick on .pl .pm or cat log files etc.

My site is fine at the moment but its only time it wil occur again!

Any Light on the matter much appreciated

    Kind Regards

From personal experience and from reading a lot of posts on the subject I can advise that write permissions do become an issue from time to time.
I believe that Actinic sets the write permissions initially, but for reasons beyond my grasp they can change on the host's server.

It is a matter for your host though, not your ISP, unless they are one in the same. If you have access you can change the write permissions yourself. If not, then your host will have to make any necessary changes. The proper settings are given in many threads.

I've taken a Draconian route several times by accessing my host's server via FTP and deleting the acatalog folder, the index.html file and all the files in the cgi folder except the ones necessary for it to function. Upon complete refresh it's like starting anew. Sometimes it's worked. Sometimes it hasn't.

Are you running and passing the write permissions test in Advanced Network Settings when you have this problem?

What FTP settings do you have under Advanced | Network Setup... are you using Enhanced FTP and Passive FTP Transfers? It may be the server is timing out and causing issues if uploading to the cgi-bin at the time.

Just checked your site and the cgi-bin was functioning OK
