Connection Wizard Problem :-(

Hi All,

I'm trying to upload our first actinic solution to our server, so to start general page production. However, I'm having a problem with the connection wizard..

I manage to start the connection process ok until I reach the Perl location part of the set up process. By click Next on the default values that are there (as they appear to be correct), after a few seconds I get a window reporting the error...


Some of the test made to check that the web server can establish a connection to the remove server has failed.

The CGI script failed to open a connection of the to a remote server

The CGI script recieved an invalid response from a remote server

Can anyone shead some light

first of all we need to know if your webserver is windows or unix.

then we need to know what you already have in your network setting. A screen dump is fine (w/o password etc)

So it made the ftp connection, this problem is only happening when it checks the perl version. Are you running through a proxy by any chance?

The server we are using runs UNIX

My network settings are..

Host Address: ftp.inkjetprintercartridges.biz
Username: xxxxxxx
Password: xxxxxxx
Using a Passive FTP Transfer

Website URL: http://www.inkjetprintercartridges.biz
CGI Location: http://www.inkjetprintercartridges.biz/cgi-bin/

Path to Perl: /usr/bin/perl
File Format: .cgi - seen this used on other sites we're made so guessing this is correct

No we're not running Proxies to any more.

pathfrom cgi-bin to acatalog directory
path to cgi-bin

have you created the cgi-bin and odes it have permissions 755

Hi Pinbrook,

ok, just had a look on our server.. yes, the permissions are set to 755

The acatalog directory appears in the route folder of the site next to the cgi-bin folder, which is automatically places there by our ISP, as we are running a virtual server and most many websites on it.

I would recommend changing your Perl extension to .pl rather than .cgi.

CGI script failed to open a remote connection

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has figured out what the problem was with the CGI script failed to open a remote connection error.

I am having the same problem and would really appreciate any help that is provided.
