    Discounting not applying

    I created today a simple cart level discount - 20% over £10

    This morning it wasn't discount so I checked it was enabled. This afternoon it started discounting but this evening it isn't working again.

    Anyone with any ideas what's going on?

      The only restrictions on the offer is the date period but that is well within the time frame.

      The curious thing is that it keeps changing - one time I test it's working giving discount other times no discounting. Yet nothing has changed in the offer.

          There isn't any pattern to this that's why I'm so baffled.

          I've tested random items of varying costs and in differing permutations. It's a real strange one.
          To begin with I thought that it was a template problem but since the erratic behaviour of the discounting appearing and then not I dismissed that possibility. I've even tested the live site with different computers as well and the vaguery is still there.

          The problem is that I don't know what the customers sees. Although to date orders have come through without any problems.

            Duncan,

            Are all items that you try purchasing in the product group to which the discount is associated? If they are and you do not have any other type of discount that could be overriding this discount, I would suggest raising a support query @ http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm so that support could take a look at this for you.

            Before raising the support ticket, could you try compacting the databases and then refreshing the site. You can compact the databases by going to Housekeeping | Compact Databases, select both options and continue. This will close down Actinic. Reopen and then refresh the site - Web | refresh website. Now test to see if this behaviour persists.

              The site was refreshed as it needs to be done each time I change the seasonal template. An update will just upload everything but will fail to merge. So it is a matter of course I do a refresh.
              All other offers and discounts are switched off as I can't afford to compound the offers otherwise I'd be giving the stock away!
              There are no associated product groups as this is at the order level and not cart contents.

              I'll compact the database and refresh again see if that improves the performance and irrationality. But I'll do that late tonight to avoid any problems with customers using the site.

                I'm pleased to report that the discounting seems to perform as it should now after double checking all the peramters and compacting the database and doing a refresh.
