    Actinic has stopped uploading

Actinic has all of a sudden stopped allowing me to upload. If i go to network settings and run the test everything is fine as i haven't changed anything. But whenever I click on update or refresh website the mouse cursor flickers on the timeglass and nothing actually happens ? I need to urgently update my site and am unable to do so at the moment.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Simon

Have you installed any firewalls lately (or changed their settings)

Probably need to Compact your databases then. After any extended activity and before uploading or creating a snapshot, it's always a good idea to go to Housekeeping | Compact Databases, tick both.

Still nothing - I can't download either. The cursor is continually flicking between pointer and hour glass but nothing ever happens and I can continue to do other things in Actinic when usually you can't during an upload.

          I am at a loss.

First thing make a full backup of the site 1 folder and keep it safe

Then make a snapshot of the site and keep that safe

That way your data is protected

Then wait for jont or william to get back to you as they are the best

              Simon,

Is this still an issue or did you get it sorted?

              Kind regards,

                Kind regards,
Is it an issue ? It is an issue in that it appears to be a known fault in the software according to Actinic Support UK.

I have to say that both myself and my client are really not happy with the support we had from Actinic in this matter. My client did not have a support package and so had to wait 24 hours for an initial response from someone in India of all places, his response was not in the slightest bit helpful and was in the realms of 'it works on my machine so it must be a problem at your end or the host - end of conversation!' I then had to wait another 24 hours for another useless response despite the fact that I indicated the urgency that we needed to upload. In the end we had to purchase a support package which they are unhappy about because it appears it was a fault in the software that Actinic thought they had fixed in an earlier version - obviously not.

It is safe to say that my client is now considering other solutions to run their store as this is one of a number of issues they have had with the software and its capabilities.

We had the same thing happen 2 days ago while moving to a new server. Web refresh bombed out but after checking server side, it appeared to have uploaded pretty much everything so just did an update - that went fine and all appeared to be working - orders started coming through again.

Next day, went to do a further update after making some stock changes and this happened to us too - couldn't refresh or update - the cursor just flickered and the hour glass spun for a few seconds then all went back to normal.

Have never had this before in quite a few years of severely hammering actinic (including upgrading, patching, switching from cat to bus, moving hosts etc).

Search on forum and confirmation from host was to change the script on network settings from 1 to something else - did this and another site refresh (another 9 hours ) and all is fixed and everything's been tickety boo since then........ touching everything made of wood!

So is it an actinic bug or just one of those unfathomable things that just *happens* - in our case I'd put it down to one of those things (I think they're green and swear a lot - bit like me having to do another refresh!).

                    Simon,

Did you try changing the script ID number as oldhasbeen suggested? Could you drop me a mail offline and let me know the Support issue number for the calls made in to support so that I can check and see what happened?

                    Kind regards,

Yes we tried changing the script ID and that didn't work. What eventually fixed the problem was to change the website url to something other than that which was correct, then change it back and it started working.

The initial email suport request was handled by someone in India and I will email offlist but the UK telephone suport didn't give me a number which I explained to the second person I spoke to. The first person from UK support never came back to me when agreed and decided to go on his lunch break instead and the second chap was much more helpful and found us a solution in a matter of minutes.
