hi,

i amjust about to uplad my complete catalog to froogle, i have set up a account and on the the bit where you have to send them a feed?

i am totally lost!!

can some please help!

Hi Alex,

not sure if there is any more help than given on the Froogle site - there is some excellent tips on there - may be worth checking the internet proper for tips and tricks on froogle as this is not an Actinic specific product.

Upon first upload you have to FTP the specified file to the hedwig server and then await confirmation.

What specific issues are you having?

Are you lost trying to create the feed file or have you made a file and are trying to upload it?

i am lost trying to make the actual file???
i have set up the account and froogle are waiting for me to submit the first file but i am completely lost i dont even know what the ftp stands for!!

please advise

You can generate the file from Actinic Version 7.0.6, using the option on the Actinic File menu (Export Froogle Feed Data...), in Froogle you should have set up a feed for your website and you should have given it a name, use this name in the dialog in Actinic.

Then log into froogle and click on the feed, you should see an upload button, use this to load the file from your PC to Froogle.

We also have a tool that allows you to generate and upload Froogle feeds that you can use it you are not using Version 7.0.6 of Actinic (previous versions of Actinic require you to make some changes to the generated file before uploading). i have found that export bit but i am still a bit unsure too what i am meant to do??

when i set up the froogle account i am not too sure what i was doing but i lost! what file do i put in the froogle bit in actinic? also once i have pressed ok on that bit what will happen?

i have done the froogle export on actinic and it said that the froogle data feed was ok but then what do i do i am so lost !

my server cannot find ftp://hedwig.google.com

That has to be the busiest FTP server in the world - can take several attempts to connect - keep trying at different times of the day

i have successfully got the window open but it is blank? i then copied my txt file in to file like u are meant to but nothing is happening can some tell me what i meant to be doing?

It is a very unfriendly site. You should have seen your feed name appear with a reported size of 0.

That's it - just log back into Froogle and check the status after about three or four hours - expect to see a report that there are unspecified errors. This will stay there while they manually review your feed, then either they will email you, or the report will change to give specific errors which you can address.

Did you remove the first two lines from the automatic feed? And mark your feed as quoted in the froogle setup page?

i am unsre to what i am meant to be doing, i tried to upload via heggoolge thing, i mangaged to get up the sceen (which was blank) and i copied the txt file to the screen.

but nothing seemed to happen? i waited then i read the google indtructions some more and informs you that you have to drag the file to the browser window ????

how the hell do you do that i am baffled to all this can some please help!!

i have the txtx file in the screen now and am now lost!

Alexander,

Log into froogle, and click on your feed name, you will see an upload button, if there is no upload button, it means that a feed is already there waiting to be processed, so wait a while (can be up to a day) until the button appears (it is only there in the feed details section) and click on that to upload the file from your machine. The name of the file must be the same as the name of the file you specified in the feed or it will be ignored by froogle.

If you are using the Actinic export, make sure you are using version 7.0.6 - check in the about box. If you are using this version you do not have to set the use quoted fields flag in froogle although if you have it set, the feed will work anyway.

You are using IE to do the ftp and putting the ftp address in the address bar, then arriving at the blank hedwig ftp page. Maximise the browser window. Now open windows explorer, if necessary reduce the size of the window so you can see part of the empty browser window. Navigate in windows explorer to the folder where the file is. Left click on the file and hold the mouse button down while you drag it over to the empty browser window. Release the mouse button when you are above the empty browser window and it should start to transfer.

OR

Get a free FTP programme (such as WS-FTP or CuteFTP) and learn how to use that.
