    Fatal Error during Site Backup

    Hello

I have just finished designing the complete site and I decided to do a site backup.

Starts backing up but then gives a fatal error:

    AppName: catalog.exe AppVer: 7.0.6.0 ModName: snapshot.dll
    ModVer: 7.0.0.0 Offset: 00001c3a

    Can someone please help?

    Jay

Try some housekeeping by purging content then compacting your database. Just an idea, as this has fixed problems for me in the past.

Tried that just now. Problem is still the same.

Starts to back up, but then gives the famous Microsoft Application Error and terminates after sending the data to MS.

Funny I have had this too ..

        Jay,

This happened to me too, slightly different wording, but all stems from issues I had with my Preview.... so I started backing stuff up and exporting the site.

        Then i got worried @**?!?@**@?

        See thread .... http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=20081

Any conclusions, be sure to pass my way.

Did not see this reply, before I replied to you on the other issue re. Preview. Sorry for the duplication.

          This is worrying me sick.

I am the CTO of a company producing embedded software, and this is what we would internally refer to as a "Feature" I am sure. Some other insensitive people might call this a bug!

But interestingly, or may be coincidentally, this only started happening when I went from TRIAL to FULL. Odd...

Must be a reason for it. I am running Adaware Pro SE, but I have stopped this and tried. I cannot even re-install as I cannot back up!

            Jay,

You can backup the entire Site1 folder C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Sites\Site1 . This will hold all your site information. You can then uninstall and reinstall Actinic. Once done copy only the contents of your old Site1 folder into the new Site1 folder.

            Kind regards,

              Be Careful ....

Correct me if I got lost in the translation, but I backed up my Site, copied Site1 and Exported a Site Snapshot.

#1 Definately COPY the folder Site1, as my Exports did not capture all of this detail completely.

#2 Be careful when you uninstall and then remove the Actinic Folder from c:\Program Files\Actinic, as the location of the Site Export, *.acd, is in this path, and therefore is deleted ?

Make sure you save your Site Export, *.acd to another folder outside the c:\Program Files\Actinic\ path.

#3 I have been advised to copy ActinicCatalog.mdb, but I am sure this is in Site1, but check for yourself anyway.

Happy recovery, I'm still not sorted yet ?

This was the support I got from Actinic Technical and it WORKED!

A big thanks to Dhivya Malani from Actinic for this.

                1) Copy the entire Site1 folder somewhere safe.

                2) Open Actinic and make a note of all the settings in 'Housekeeping | Security'.

                3) Close Actinic and uninstall it via Control Panel.

                4) Clear out the 'Actinic v7' folder on the PC.

                5) Re-install Actinic. Make sure you are installing exactly the same version as the site was built with i.e. 7.0.6.

                6) Start Actinic and license the site (with the key recorded in step 2 above)

                7) Once the site is licensed and open, close Actinic.

                8) Copy the backed-up 'Site1' (or equivalent) folder into the 'Actinic v7\Sites' folder - overwriting any existing files.

                9) Start Actinic again.
