    Another shipping question!

    Hi,

    I can see there is plenty about shipping in the forums but haven't been able to find anything that covers this exactly.

    For most items I want to charge a flat rate of £1.95 for shipping with each additional item an extra 50p unless the order value exceeds £35 in which case shipping is free. However, on a couple of heavier items I want to charge £3.95 with no option of free shipping.

    I thought there would be a way to tag items for different shipping rules but haven't managed to track anything down so at the moment I only have the first part implemented.

    Does anyone know of a way in which I may be able to do this?

    Hi Chris
    There isn't a specific way you can tag products as described, although this is a workaround to partially fit your needs:

    Set shipping by weight

    Set individual product weight to say 10g each.

    Set the heavy items to 5000g.
    If its £3.95 per heavy item, then tick 'ship seperately', so each heavy product calculates as a new package of £3.95

    Set up shipping table as follows:

    10g = £1.95
    20g = £2.45
    30g = £2.95 etc

    5000g = £3.95

    This won't allow the free shipping over £35.
    There is no way to include this automatically (a flaw that has been raised many a time).

    You can always manually adjust the shipping to zero once the order arrives. although this is not a great help.
