Someone just ordered a hidden product!

Hmm, just had an order placed, and paid for (by paypal) for a product that has long been discontinued, and hidden on the site. How can this happen?

Do you have a duplicate copy somewhere that you forgot to hide? You have to hide every copy of a product, and when we get an order for a hidden product, there is generally a copy lingering in an forgotten corner.

If you go into Actinic, and search for the exact name on your packing slip, it should find all copies of that product.

I have had this issue before - it can happen if the user has saved the cart for later use or they are using a cached page in their browser - single product pages tend to be the worst.

Hiding a product in Actinic can be as simple as just removing it from the navigation - a copy can still sit on the remote server!

Or even adding the product from the google cache! (and then wondering why you have to refund them?)

it is a good idea every now and again to remove all html pages from the remote server to ensure pages containing long removed products are really removed.
          And then do an update

Is it possible that the item is hidden on the site but the exclude from search box wasn't ticked, so that the item may have been found by search. I am assuming that hidding the item only excludes it from the navigation. Was the can be ordered on line box still ticked?
