Importing Product Images From a CD

    Hi there,

I have a CD containing 2000 product images which i need to insert into a clients website. As you can mass import data into an actinic shopping cart using an excel spreadsheet, i was wondering if anyone could tell me how i import this image data into the spreadsheet?

    hope you can help,

    ghost.

You will need to copy the images into the site folder to start with otherwise Actinic will throw a wobbly. Under Actinic you can export the file and this will show you the correct format and headers for the spreadsheet - you will obviously require other information other than just the product images (product ref, price, descriptions etc)

Indirectly. Build a couple of sample products with all the details you expect to need then export the products. In Excel you can then see the required format and replicate it for the rest of the products.

Dont forget you may have to reduce the size of the pictures as they are probably quite high resolution if supplied by a non web based company

this makes me think of a useful utility for Jan to write.... please....

create an output file from the actinic DB, in csv format, just the section name, prod ref and short description.

this can then be used as an input for bulk updating prices, image filenames etc.

I currently do this by exporting a froogle file but I have to fiddle with it first...this could save me a few precious minites!
