Website updated - SEO advice needed

    Hi all,

I have just recentley updated our web site and feel happy with it all thou a few problems with layout in firefox and netscape but more concerned at present with page rankings, links etc.

We can get some natural listings via msn on some keywords but google we get nothing unless of course we use the adwords.

We constantanly get SEO companies phoning us telling us we have a page ranking of zero and that they can assist by offering us a 1000 backward links for £££!
Dont get me wrong I would pay for assistance in this although i feel if i keep at it and with a little help from you guys i should crack it

I have read these forums regarding page ranking and reprical links tried a few software programs but still struggling with it all.

I have made a links page for link exchanges with other websites but on some further reading unless i link with sites with relevant info this maybe pointless, also some say dont link with sites with a page rank of zero, so with our site ranked zero who would want to link to us?

If anyone out there could give me some advise and tell me where i maybe going wrong i would really appreciate it.

    All comments welcome

    Thanks
    --- Graham

You have 88 pages listed on google. Most of them have the same title tag so i expect that you have left the title fields empty - the first thing you need to do is identitfy the keywords people are using to find your products, then for each page use the keyword to optomise the page. If you do a search on the forum I have answered this question many times.

You are correct in the links department - who are your competitors? when you find them harvest thier link information and use this as a starting point for your linking efforts. There is the school of thought that you should not link to a website with a PR less than 5, personally I dont mind but others do. You will certainly need software to manage your links I have some details on my website.

I did have 250 shopping websites listed on my website but I removed them this morning!

As you say all the info you need is in the forum.

      Hi Malcolm.

Thanks for your reply and even more thanks for taking my phone call yesterday and giving such helpful advice and tips.
I am in process now making the suggested changes but if anyone else has any feed back on our website feel free to comment.
