    Upgrading to XP

    Hi All

Got several PC with Win98 and XP on.

I want to transfer my V5 catalog site from my Win98 PC to a XP PC.

I tried to transfer the Site 1 folder but the Download green arrow is greyed ot and when I updated the site I get a lot of errors with missing files.

    Can any one help?

Andrew - try exporting a snapshot from the old machine and after installing Actinic onto the new machine import the snapshot - this tends to pick things up a simple site copy misses (although always useful to have a full site copy as well). Best to install into the dafault location to ensure all paths rremain the same.

You will need to upload the full site again as all the time stamps will have changed on the new install.

      Hi

Just tried a snapshot but I get one Fatal Error

      FATAL ERRORS
(File SnapshotWizard.cpp, Line 646) - Archive error 5 - The compression operation failed
Library error - Can not open file C:\Program Files\Actinic ecommerce v5\Sites\Site1\ActinicCatalog.ldb ! has been caught.

I do get other errors but they are relating to images that I have removed, so these are easy to correct.

What does the Fatel Error mean?

Either another application is using the database or it has not been released. If no application is using the database then the ldb should be automatically deleted. Try opening Actinic and compacting the database. Close Actinic, reopen and then try creating a snapshot.
You can also check (with Actnic closed) that the ActinicCatalog.ldb does not exist in the Site1 directory. If it does, first take a backup your database - including the ldb file, and if you are sure no other application is using the database then delete the ldb file. Then open Actinic again and retry creating a snapshot.

The snapshot feature was never that stable in V5. I would use the zip up site1 method.

Note the download (green arrow) will be greyed out until you do a sucessful upload (blue arrow).

don't forget to copy across your housekeeping keys too. Use notepad to copy the 4 keys from "housekeeping|Security" from the old PC to the NEW
