Quantity on Confirmation Page vs Request Location Information Early

    Hi

I am trying to simplify my cart / checkout process.

I currently have 'Request Location Information Early' and therefore using the standard Actinic features I have 'Quantity on Confirmation Page'.

Is there anyway of having 'Request Location Information Early' ON (which is essential) but with Quantity on Product Page OR Quantity in Shopping Cart? Anything but Quantity on Confirmation Page!

If it is not possible I was wondering if I can keep Quantity on Confirmation Page on but remove the code so that it is invisible to the customer. E.g. the quantity is automatically set at 1. Basically, on the confirmation page I only want the customer to select Shipping Destination.

    Many thanks

    Hi there,

You can set the quantity to be always "1" by going to "View | Business Settings | Ordering" and tick the box that says "Order Quantity Always One"

Then set the Shopping Mode to "Quantity on Confirmation Page".

Update your site and see if this works.

      Hi Varun

      Thanks.

But by setting Order Quantity Always One does that not limit the customer to only being able to buy one per transaction? I would not want this.

I want 1 to be populated automatically (without the need for the confirmation page) but within the cart I want the customer to be able to then change the quantity to whatever they like.

Why does having 'Request Location Information Early' and result in 'Quantity on Confirmation Page' being mandatory?

      Regards

        Paul,

Yes, this will restrict the cart to 1. Can you provide a URL for me to check this out as using the very same settings as you mention I always get the Quantity box filled with '1'. If you want to do away with the quantity input on this page, it is not possible as this field is a required one.

Why does having 'Request Location Information Early' and result in 'Quantity on Confirmation Page' being mandatory?
This is because it enables authorisation on whether shipping is enabled to the particular destination or not and to enable correct calculation of VAT, this also cuts down the number of checkout pages.

          Hi Bruce

          Thanks.

An example URL is this http://www.kjbeckett.com/acatalog/co...harlestie.html. Just add the tie to the cart. The quantity is currently set to 1 and that is fine. I also dont mind the customer changing quantity - just not at this stage. I want them to do that in the shopping cart.

Is it possible to make invisible (not delete) the quantity option so that the customer simply fills in the Shipping Destination? Then is it possible to take the customer directly to the shopping cart where of course they can amend the quantity?

Just an aside point Paul - I notice that many of your 'more info' pop-ups are missing images.

              Hi Paul,

Yes you could hide the quantity box and looks like you have already done that.

              Regards,
              Robert.
