    upgrade didnt upgrade

We upgraded to 6 from 5, and our server hosts offered to upgrade the site for us, i put the snap shot onto v6 but noticed all the html files in the site1 directory were still the old v5 ones.
this meant that none of the new features showed up.
I copied the v6 html files and got some features to appear but not all of them.
for example i can get the "more info" popup link, but the link doesnt work, it gives an error.
and the "one add to cart button at the end of the page" feature doesnt show up.
obviously something is wrong with my templates.

i only have two days left at this job so i dont want to start anything big that i cant finish.
    the site is at www.natterjack.co.uk

    http://www.natterjackrunning.co.uk/a...head_Band.html
    has the more info link
    and
    http://www.natterjackrunning.co.uk/a...Energy___.html
has the add to cart button missing.

I concur. I do quite a few site upgrades for clients, and have experienced a number of occasions where the "Site Upgrader" program does not appear to run. The database is upgraded ok, but Site Upgrader (which I presume does all the template upgrading) is never seen.

The only surefire way to make a site upgrade properly, is to have your old version already installed; uninstall then re-install Actinic V6.latest, choosing to upgrade the old site. (If upgrading from V4, update old V4 site to V4.11 first).

Does anyone know of a way to force Site Upgrader to run?

One situation where it seems Site Upgrader does not run, is when you already have one or more V6 sites installed, and want to license a new site, upgrading from an old version. My process goes:

    1. In V6, I click File, Sites, License New Site. I set the site name, enter the license key, and activate the new site.
    2. I close Actinic, then delete the new site folder e.g. Site2. I then copy in the site folder from the old version, naming it to the folder name of the new site in V6. e.g. Site2.
    3. I run Actinic. It upgrades the database, and then launches straight away, without any sign of Site Upgrader.

    Any clues/advise, anyone?

      Housekeeping/Site upgrader runs it.

Which BTW actinic chaps doesn't work if you happen to have renamed your site since installing it - you then get 1 million or so error messages saying that it can't find x file and it can't find y file.

Time for a trip to the opticians it seems!

I looked at the help file, and the textbook way of upgrading an existing older version site, when you already have V6 installed with another site, is to run the V6 installation program again. You get the option to upgrade then, and everything works fine.

Thanks Jan for pointing out the obvious.
