Simple search not working

simple search appears not to be working at all on our site, anyone any ideas what could be wrong?

It appears that i can't search for either a product name or reference, other computers can search succesfully on product name, but no one can search on a product reference.
Here is a product reference to try, if someone is willing,
B-3470.

I have un-ticked "Hide Product Refs" under View | Business Settings | Options

I don't think anyone can search except using advanced search - I found this code online

This means the go button has no destination. You will need to correct that first, then check your settings under View | Search Settings.

I can search but only by hitting the enter key rather than clicking Go, and only get results searching by name.

Bill - can't see anything in there that would stop searching on the product reference.

I can see the products when hitting enter but cannot see the product when entering the product reference.... it just defaults to the 403 error page (the catalog index page)

I have tried doing a simple search on this product code and hitting the return button yet still it finds no results?

Look in View / Search Settings / Search Options / Valid Characters. You'll need to add - and . to that list.

Note that you can break things if you use certain characters there. Use the ? tool tip to get help about this.
