    Purchasing without leaving actinic site???

Is it possible to purchase a product without actually leaving the website.
For example, going to a PSP like paypal or another credit card merchant service.

I understand that the company must have an internet merchent account - which they do. But enabling this in actinic makes the user have to go away to their site to make the transaction.

How can the transaction be totally handled on site, like amazon, hmv, play.com.
    Those kind of site.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I may be wrong but as I understand it the whole idea of using a PSP is for them to collect the payment on their own secure server. Validate the card details and if sucessfull process the payment and arrange for batch transfer into your business account. (mins their fees !)

The only way of keeping users on the same site is to get yourself a SSL Certificate and collect the payment information via Actinic. You would then process the payment manually by either a PDQ machine or via the internet using something like Barclaycard ePDQ

    Hope this helps?

I think some merchant accounts allow you to edit the template that resides on their SSL server to be in keeping with your site. In many cases however I think customers not only expect to be redirected but also prefer to enter their details via a known institution's sercure server as opposed to a relatively unknown website.

Agree with Duncan - unless you are a major player such as Amazon, PLAY, HMV etc probably better to let the clearing house handle the front-end to inspire customer confidence

          hmm,

yeh i can see your point with the customers point of view, but my criteria for this project is that the user does not leave the site.

As a web developer and obviously a web user, personally there is nothing more annoying and unproffesional than being pumped off to a payment service.

          but thats just me.

If there is anyway of keeping the user "on-site" i really need help.

Am i right in saying that a server that is secured with SSL (a certificate?) can take the payment information, pass it to the merchent account and process the transaction all while the user is on the site..?

          Thanks guys,

            CC payment without leaving site

I agree, seamless is always nicer.

In the US it is totally normal to do exactly that and configuring such processing is also straight forward, though I guess you are in the UK.

You could try SecPAY, technically the SSL connection does jump to their servers but the end user does not see any difference and it looks as if they have stayed in the same place, or at least that is what SecPAY told me.

If you are in the US, then just go straight to Authorize.net.

it is possible to do this on one of our servers
I've noticed that Robert (Site-HostUK) isn't actually answering customers questions but is simply plugging his services by pretending to answer with vague generalisations.

One for the Moderators to look at I think.

Ther is no way I know of that a PSP such as HSBC/Barclays can work while you remain on the Actinic site.
