Hiding certain products from the search results

    Hello all!
Does anyone know how you can stop certain products from being listed in the search results.
I have scoured this forum and can't see any posts on the topic but thought I someone might have found a way.

I'm sure that I posted regarding how to do this. Try searching for hiding search results.

Yeah, tried that but only got my own post.
Can I assume from your message that there is a way?
Is it a piece of code that you sell Norman?

          Hi drink75,

Checkout page 56 of the Advanced users guide, as it tells you what you need to do to hide those products. This was the solution that Norman added!

My post http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=13259 was in the V6 Forum (as that's where someone else asked about this) but is applicable to V7.

You may find the V6 post more useful as it's a nightmare to copy / paste code from the Advanced Guide's PDF as this wraps some lines of text.

Thanks for that Norman but I can't seem to get it to work. Every time I upload the site with the revised searchscript.pl I get an internal server error when the search is attempted.
I am problably doing it wrong, does anyone have an example of this script in place?

Which bit of code did you use? Advanced Guide or Forum?

You will get server errors if you use copy / paste the code from the Advanced Guide without tidying up the word wrapping (it helps if you know Perl).

If you use the one I posted this should be cleaner.

Both, neither worked. I would realy like to see a sample of the code in place to ensure I am adding it correctly.

                    Hi There,

Please find attached a copy of the Search Script with the mod from the AUG. You will have to add the '-x' to teh product references you do not want appearing in the search. Have tried it out and it works.

Please note, you will have to save this file as SearchScript.pl

                    Kind regards,
                    Attached Files

Perl scripts often change with each update of Actinic. Make sure you're using the correct one. Search for revision to see the revision number.
