    confirmation trigger

    I hope someone can confirm/clarify something for me.

    Am I right in assuming that the email telling me that someone has placed an order at my site is only sent when someone clicks the "done" button on the final receipt page?

    What triggers the email that the customer receives confirming their order placement - is it this same "done" button or something else?

    I might be wrong but I understood that both of these emails are sent when you are transfered to the PSP.

      AFAIK (and can remember) the 'new order' email is sent when the customer goes to the payment or psp stage (i.e. when the order is created) but the customer confirmation email (and any copies) is only sent when the customer goes to the final receipt page.

        Thanks Duncan and Mike... so if I am reading this right they are sent when the customer moves from the page where they add their payment details (still processing payments offline) to the receipt page, and therefore not generated when hitting the done button on the receipt page.

        The reason why I ask is because I have had a few orders come in and have not received the email telling me that I have an order waiting for download. This only happens every now and then so I started to think that maybe if these emails were generated by hitting the done button then if this button was not hit - (ie the customer closes the window or types in a new url) then the emails would also not be generated.

          IIRC you only get one email to say that there are orders to download and until you do download them you will not get another email. Howvere that said I also sometimes do not get an email saying there are orders to download when I expected I should have.

            This also happens if you use paypal for paying for orders, sometimes, i guess, the customer closes his/her browser and you never get the email.

            but i do get the odd order recieved email but no orders on the website but i think i always get an email when i have an order, i will moniter this, never given it much thought though.
