Doing the test - getting cgi-bin error and server name or address could not be resolv

I am new to Actinic and I have just using the test on the network setup with the following error messages:-

"The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts."

    and :-

"the server name or address could not be resolved"

    Please help...... (desperate!!)

Welcome Karen - please let u sknow who your host is and whether it is Linux or Windows. You can also try searching on the forum for network settings for your host. You could also post your exported network settings (without passwords and usernames) if you can't find any previous posts that help.

In the meantime - Issues are often related to file permissions on the server and cgi-bin paths.

On the Network settings screen you have the option to export the settings - save them as a txt file then you will be able to post it. Otherwise cut and paste the contents into a posting.

Karen - for your security please delete or edit the above post and repost with password and usernames removed.

One thing I noticed immediately was that you spelt acatalog wrong in CATALOGURL also cgi-bin to acatalog seesm wrong <path>/catalog/test/acatalog ??

I see several thing that might be wrong. I'm assuming here that acatalog and cgi-bin are both off the same root.

                      CATALOGURL http://bournemarketplace.co.uk/acalog/

                      should be

                      CATALOGURL http://bournemarketplace.co.uk/acatalog/

                      and

                      PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG <path>/acatalog/test/acatalog/

depends on where your cgi-bin is but

                      PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../acatalog/

                      seems correct.

                      Finally

                      PATHTOCGIBIN ./

                      looks wrong

                      PATHTOCGIBIN /cgi-bin/

                      is more likely

                        error message

all now present and ship shape - however, error messages are still - I have only purchased my webspace and domain name today - so I will wait a couple of days and see what the situation is then.....

                        thanks chaps
