how come if you create a component that is a "associated product" and the associated product has an attribute, the attribute does not show up in the new component
Not sure if this makes sence

new product that has several components all of which are "associated products"

one of the components has an attribute that is media, so they can select DVD or VHS

but in the new product the component attributes are not showing up?

I can not add attributes if I try to click on add attribute I get a error message telling me that it is not possible for a product too have attributes when it already has components

Robert,

You will not be able to use the atributes on an associated product when you are linking to the product via a component. This is one for the wishlist and I will add a vote for you.
