Browser showing ? instead of £

    HI,
My Browser is showing ? instead of £. Is this an Explorer or Actinic fault. I am sure this has been answered before, but cannot find it. Can anyone help?

    Best regards

mx1 is showing £ on my PC - at least on the pages I visited. Try refreshing your browser window with Ctrl-F5 (or deleting the temporary internet files) or post a link to a specific page where the problem exists.

        Hi,
It seems to be only where we have added special offers through the discount feature in Actinic?

Where exactly are you entering the prompt text - when you type the prompt in, try using "& # 1 6 3" instead of the £ sign. (without the spaces)

            Hi,
We are not prompted for anything. Actinic sets up the discount format automatically.

Looking at this, the ? appears in the cart too where it says 'Shopping cart (Prices in ? )', this will only happen if you have made a change in Design | Options | Shop Defaults | Receipt Currency label. This value should read 'Prices in %s'.

              Kind regards,

Its back again - it only seems to be showing the ? in the product components, and the search results ?

                    Niels,

The components are displaying what you have entered in the name or in the HTML for name fields. I would suggest copying the £ from one of the product prices and using that to see if it resolves the display.

For the search results, can you check Act_ResultsTemplate.html to see if you have this bit in correctly..
                    </Actinic:XMLTEMPLATE>
                    <Actinic:S_LINK/><B><Actinic:S_PNAME/></B></A> <Actinic:S_SNAME/> <Actinic:S_PRICE/> <BR>
                    <Actinic:S_DESCR/><BR>
Or replace the existing template with an original one from the Format | Themes folder.

                    Kind regards,

                      Hi,
It is entered as a £ in the component name and the description - could it be a browser issue ?

                      Regards

I have changed my post #5 to say what it was originally meant to say, before it was mangled by the forum.

                          Hi,
Thanks - That works - is there a reason behind this happening ?

                          Best regards

Its the way the html is written, the code I gave you is how the pound sign is represented in the actual page code produced by the product line templates. The component description is not converted in this way, because it is supposed to already be compliant html code.

Most of the time, you can enter the symbol and it will be correctly represented, but you found one of the instances where the escaped code is required.
