Web Site URL Changed With New Logo - But Old Logo Still Showing On Some Actinic Pages

    Hi,

I've recently migrated a site from http://www.newsister.co.uk (old URL) to http://www.drroots.co.uk (new URL) - due to a change in trading name. The old URL is now forwarding customers to the new URL.

However, on some of the Actinic pages the old 'New Sister' logo is still trying to be displayed (incorrectly):
    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Relaxers.html
    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Shampoos.html
    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Hair_Colour.html

Whereas on others the new 'Dr Roots' logo is correctly being displayed:
    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Conditioners.html
    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Heat_Protection.html
    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Kids_Only.html

Any ideas why on some pages the right logo is being displayed and on others the old logo is being pulled in?

I have refreshed the site on two separate occasions but no luck here. Do I have a problem with CGIs???? Any ideas how to fix this?

Also, how do I ensure that customers who have previously shopped at http://www.newsister.co.uk do not have problems with cookies when they visit http://www.drroots.co.uk????

    Any help appreciated.

The logo is not showing (only placeholder) on the URLs you gave as incorrect. Maybe try and cear your browser cache and then retry.

I guess if you are seeing just a placeholder on your browser, then it's more than just a cache issue.

Nevertheless, I've cleared the browser and the problem still persists.

      Any other ideas?

No, the problem is more serious than that. The add to cart buttons all point to newsister, the top menu links all point to newsister.

I think the problem may be that you are using the same cgi-bin and did not change the cgi/perl script number when you uploaded the new site.

I would change the script number and do a full refresh. Then if the problem still exists, manually delete all the actinic content on the website before reloading yet again.

Sounds like good advice. How do I change the script number?

Tucked away in: Advanced|Network Setup - Standard Tab - Common Settings - CGI Script ID Number

Thanks. What do I change this CGI Script ID Number to - so that I am not using the same cgi-bin as before?

You need to change it to anything different from the previous install whatever that was. Pick a number if you don't know and give it a go.

I highly recommend you check what templates are being used for the different pagse.

The pages with the 'wrong' logo are calling a different image for the logo AND using the wrong basehref statement.

If I were you I'd also delete all my files from the website and do a full refresh.

                    Hi,

I've tried updating the CGI scripts. First to '2' and then to '3', deleting the content on the website manually each time and then doing a full refresh. However, this problem has not been resolved.

On the pages showing the 'old' Newsister logo any of the products that you attempt to add to the basket are pointing to the old CGI Script '1'. There is also still the problem with the placeholder for the old logo:
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Shampoos.html
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Kids_Only.html
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Kids_Only.html
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Hair_Colour.html
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Skincare.html

This is also confusing me because some of the pages are working fine:
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Relaxers.html
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Conditioners.html
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Heat_Protection.html
                    http://www.drroots.co.uk/acatalog/Accessories.html

Any further help really appreciated as the site is basically down and not trading .

In View | Business Settings - is there any reference on any of the tabs (including the Terms and Conditions tabs) to newsister? Same on the Design | Options tabs - any mention there?

Then check Advanced | Network settings. Check none of these pages are listed in Advanced | Additional Files.

Once you are sure there is no mention of newsister anywhere, delete all the html files in the SiteHTML and PreviewHTML folders on your hard disk. Also check that there are not copies of these files in the main (site 1) folder.

Go to Housekeeping | Compact Databases, select both checkboxes. Actinic will close down. When you restart it, use the preview website option and navigate to the problem pages on your desktop - see where the cart buttons point.

If all is OK, the do another cleanup and complete refresh on the website. If not, you either need to get your snapshot checked by a developer, or submit an email help request to Actinic (they will need the snapshot).

                        This is some great information.

I have followed these instructions. Essentially, the pages are incorrect in the Site 1 folder. After I have went to Housekeeping | Compact Databases, the preview pages that correspond to the incorrect published web pages are also incorrect.

How do I clean these Site 1 pages up so that they are working correctly when they are published on the server?

The pages should not exist in the site 1 folder. Only templates should be in that folder.

Make a complete backup copy of the whole site 1 folder and all its subfolders to a safe place, then delete the generated web pages that are in site 1. All the Act_ template files do belong there, so be careful you only delete generated web pages. Once that is done, do another preview - if it is working correctly, you should see the correct content in preview, and be ready for a fresh upload.

This information was absolutely correct - and resulted in the problem being resolved.

                            Thank you.
