weight of dif items

I have set up a item that has several attributes but would like to be able to asign a different weight to the different attributes or is there a better way to set this up?

item is oil
atributes are Qt, gal, 5gal only able to set one weight would like to be able to asign a weight to the qt , gal, & 5gal

Have you tried setting the 3 oil volumes as hidden products with a weight and then associating the products under the components permutation tab?
