OK.. Router hard wired to the Actinic machine meaning you have the serial cable (if linksys have those) and also the ethernet cable plugged into it.
You can access the router obviously via the Actinic machine, but if it has the serial cable (like say dont know) is this how you connect to it, likewise do you access the router via a private IP address and that works (192.168.0.1 etc etc).
Taking into account that normal FTP and http software works and you connect and that Actinic is the only thing which is not working as it is just not getting out of the router to the net, what is it like when you enable the proxy options in the network settings button to use same as the windows settings, so not none, but the windows setting - does that make any difference...
Also, not come across linksys to be honest, but the netgear ones have issues with the MTU being a couple of digits out, so check through all of its settings and see if it has an MTU option and then increase that (if it is just under 1500) to 1500...
