Associated Products with attributes

I am struggling to find a way to associate products to each other. I am trying to sell beds and then give them the option of choosing a mattress. I can get this to work when the associated product doesn't have attributes. But i would like to offer different sizes. Is this possible in Catalog v7 ?

You can create an attribute for mattress and another one for size. Then create the choices for each of them.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried associating a product which already has a choices of size but all that showed was a check box not a drop down list of sizes. To get the drop down list it looks like I will have to have each type of mattress as an optional component on each product. I think I might use the LINK facility in fragments to show related sections as discussed in "add-on sales" thread 01/01/06.
