    Search results with audio clip

    Hi,

Anyone know if it's possible for a client to search for a type of music on my site www.yopo.co.uk - and for the results to be displayed iin a list with a link to the preview audio file that appears in the normal product display?

Basically like a table of results - rather than having to click on the link to each result and go off to that particular product etc...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jono

In View / Search Settings / Results, you can opt to show the Product Description. This can contain embedded HTML for the link you require.

You can also show Product Properties so it may be possible to use one of these to hold a link, however I'm not an expert on this possibility.

      Jono,

Building on Norman's response, choose to display the full description on the results page.

You have to create the preview clips yourself (using your usual sound editing software, or a free MP3 editor like Audacity), but everything else can be done within Actinic.

It will be easiest if you give the preview files names that all start the same, so that they sort in one block.

After creating your preview files, copy them to the Actinic site folder on your PC (usually C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Sites\Site1),

To have Actinic upload them for you, from the Actinic menu select Advanced, then Additional Files Click Add, then find and select all the preview files, and click Open

      Click OK

To add a link to a preview track to any MP3 product, first click on the product in the Actinic Content Tree
In the Product Details pane, type [ LINK ] in the Full Description where you want the link to the preview track to appear
Select the Links tab and click the 'Advanced Link' box
In the Link Text field type ' Preview track'
In the URL field, enter the filename of the relevant preview track.

Now Refresh the web site. The preview link will appear with the product description. Clicking it will play the preview track in the default media player.

      Hope this helps,

        Thanks to both of you.

The preview tracks are all in place already. If you have a look at www.yopo.co.uk - and say one of the download tracks - the audio is available via flash streaming.

So if I change the search settings to "desription - FULL DESCRIPTION - and upload the site will this mean that basically the whole product description along with the flash preview will display in the search results?

As far as "refreshing" - do I have to to do that? Does this mean that Actinic will try and re-upload all the download tracks - there's a heck of a lot of files and if it tries to do that we'll be sitting here waiting for hours/days!

        Thanks,
        Jono

          That is correct.

You do not need to refresh the site, an update will suffice.

Just tried it but get the following error message:

"The product information buffer is too large for the index engine. Buffer size is 2800. The limit is 2048....etc"

            ?

              Jono,

That error is due to the size of the search index file exceeding 2 MB or 2048 KB, perhaps there is a limitation to teh size of the index file. Have never come across this one before. Does anyone have an idea as to why this happens?

              Kind regards,
