discount message in view cart page

The currency symbol is not picked up for when prompting a customer on the 'view cart'page.
A message

'You will receive ?2.00 discount if...'
instead of
'You will receive £2.00 discount if...'

How do i ensure the '£' symbol appears on the website?

This topic has been covered in some detail, a search for "Currency Symbol' should brng up several threads that deal with this subject. This perhaps is due to a change made in Design | Text ID 2366, the default should be "You will receive %s discount if your cart value exceeds %s.". Also check that Design | Options | shop defaults .. Receipt Currency Label reads, 'Prices in %s'.
