component cost doesn't appear in cart

I am trying to upsell some ink with a pen product on my cart.
I have added it as a component and given it a special price. Customers have to tick the box to include it with the pen.
When I look in the shopping cart the ink is detailed on the list but carries no price! I'd rather not give it away so can anyone help?

In your permutations list have you changed the pricing to 'Associated Product'?
