on this note i'm spurred to write an application that can retrieve as much from an actinic site as possible.

i'v had experience with spidering and link recursion, and i think with a tiny template mod, it'd be possible to spider a site to requild some sort of product index csv, for re-import.

any ideas before i wade in?

That would be a great application to have.

Retrieving all the the template files, images and html files would be a good start. Then anything on top of that which makes actinic work online so all the pearl stuff and like to.

      Good luck

Just parse sitemap.html on the server and you have a list of all pages.

Note that section link pages can contain both Products and Sections.

Another thought. If it required extra Template tags, then it wouldn't help the ones who most need it. I've a feeling that those willing to make a modification to preserve their site are probably those who would make backups anyway.

In any event the product named anchor tags that actinic uses should help locate the start of a product short name.

true, i suppose to parse the content blind would be the only way. lucky for me actinic uses 'predictable' methods for building its pages.

sadly, bringint back the templates that made up your page after uploading is almost like getting the eggs back after you bake a cake.
