    SMTP Socket Connection Refused

    Hi

    I am having troubles getting the mail form to work correctly
    (URL: www.nineplus.com/realindex.htm

    I am getting the error:
    Unable to connect to the mail socket (Connection refused)

    I have tried changing the setting in my network config to many different email accounts i have - and even changed it to ones that i know worked previous to messing with my contact form.

    I think i may have corrupted the form or .pl file, is there anyway i can check to see?

    or

    is there any way i can donwload an unedited version of these files?

    Run test in Advanced | Network settings with the information for the mail service provided by your website host.

    If those settings do not work, try 'localhost'as the server name with no tick in the authentication required box.

    Search this forum using 'mail settings' or 'localhost' to read hundreds of messages explaining why you cannot use yahoo or gmail or btinternet in those settings (unless those are your webhosts).

    Added - to replace the contact us form go to C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Formats\Themes and then either Business CSS if you are using a CSS based theme OR Business if the theme you are using is not CSS based, and copy the original template from there into your site 1 folder.

      I have spoken to the people at my hosting provider and they say that they cannot find the problem as i am using 3rd party software.

      What are the smtp requirements of actinic?

        Quite simply - an SMTP server, with our without Authentication.

        Did you try the Network Test as Bill suggested?

        If so what were the results, and did you get the confirmation email?

        The Contact Us form uses the same SMTP Perl scripts as the confirmation and customer email.

          The smtp server uses authentication.

          I tried a test and it says:

          "The computer you specified as your mail server is not a valid mail (SMTP) server. Check the computer name or address and try again. If it fails again, then it is possible, you were locked out by a firewall program, or you don't have network connection to this server."

          "Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
          server: passed
          connection: failed
          sockets: passed
          communications: failed
          authorisation: failed
          message: Connection refused"

          and i do not recieve a confamation email

            Something in your network settings must be wrong. If you post them here (Advanced / Network Setup / Export - remember to hide passwords) and tell us who your server hosts are, that may be useful.

            Otherwise it looks like you'll have to contact your server people and find out what the correct SMTP settings are.

                    again abit more info from you would help....

                    are you using the actinic inbuilt form, have you set up the address you expect to receive email at

                    is the email going to spam
