Adding personalised field to product page

Hi All

I have tried searching for this but can't find anything but I am sure I have seen it before.

I am creating a product where the customer needs to put in a unique auction number when choosing the product, it will be different every time. so i need to have an input box on the product page so the customer can let me know the number when they order.

Has anyone done anything like this?

I hope it all makes sense.

Ian - can you not simply use the "Other Info Question" field against the product and enter "please enter your auction code" as the default text?

Normans script over at www.drillpine.biz allows this to be made optional if desired

that did the trick - never used that function before.

Do you know how to change the size of the input box it generates?

Check out Phase -1 ID=2161 to manually set the size there .... should work but not tried
