specific search option

Hi all

I want to place a search drop down box on all pages that will allow customers to dispalay all products by a perticula manufacturer.

I have set-up a customvar called "manufacturer" so am able to display the list view using the advanced search function.

But it would be much better if I had a simple drop down list where the customer could just select which manufacturer they wanted to see and a search query would then run to display the coresponding products

Check out the combination of the following either from the Advanced User Guide or the forum:

1. search results in columns
2. displaying thumbnails next to search results

Actinic is not database driven so it will always be a bit of a workaround to get searches functioning as you want them. Another option would be to have sections for each manufacturer but that could lead to a lot of duplicate content that the search engines may not like
