    Updating a restored site

    Hi

Is it possible to update a website which has just been restored (imported snapshot), without having to run a full refresh?

    Cheers

It would be nice , but no. When you import a snapshot the files are unpacked with the latest dates and times and hence are seen as later files. I've looked at ways to try unzip the files without changing the dates/times but never been able to.

      Thanks

      Thanks for your quick reply.

I refresh is quite bad for actual customers using the site at the time isn't?

I have checked it in the past and the whole layour always goes funny during a refresh.

IIRC you should download all orders, suspend ordering, wait 30 minutes then upload. I (and most others) take a chance at a quieter time.

          Retaining timestamps

@Duncan: If you want to retain the timestamp of the file within an archive, you can use the Unix gzip tool which has been ported to Windows. It is a command-line tool however.

          It can be obtained from:

          http://sourceforge.net/project/shown...ease_id=377345

Run it with the --name switch and files will be restored with the original timestamp.
