    Error Signature
    AppName: catalog.exe AppVer: 7.0.4.0 ModName: mfc71.dll

Do you have MS Access? If so, try (with Actinic closed) opening the ActinicCatalog.mdb file in MS Access and from there do a database compact & repair.

    Then try Actinic again.

      Hi Bill,
still not working. i'm wondering whether it matters that im trying to bakup to a file on the desktop, rather than in the site folder?...
i'll try again saving the bakup to the site1 folder...

First export your Network Settings, and make a copy of the Housekeeping security settings in Notepad or similar.

Copy your whole site one folder somewhere safe, and then do a complete uninstall of the Actinic package (including manually deleting the folders which are left behind) and a reinstall.

Try a snapshot of the default site - when that works, copy your saved site1 folder back into place overwriting the default site. Import your network settings and copy the Housekeeping Security data back in. Try the snapshot again.

              ok - i'll give it a go...

              I've exoported network settings
i've copied and pasted all the security info into word
              i've copied site1 folder.

              2. questions

              a) really silly one but i'm in unknown territory here: is it ok to copy the security settings into word? (ie or is notepad better to use)

              b) We've got existing orders - will this process keep them all?
              thanks

                a) I don't think word will do any harm - but - I would use notepad just to be safe. We know Notepad does not add or interpret the pasted text - we do not know what word might do.

                b) Yes, the existing orders are safe inside the database - which is inside the site1 folder you have copied. New orders are on the website - and will stay there till you download - that's why the security information may be important and needs to be saved off.

One final caution - the network settings and security settings are NOT [saved] inside the site1 that you are about to delete - are they?

Funnily enough theyre not - (only because I thought I'd find them more readily on the desktop!!) Point taken though, I'll make sure that I dont in future....

                        Hello all,

I just had a similar experience, and managed to fix it without a re-install. I backed up my site1 folder, security and network details, then imported a very early snapshot, exported this early snapshot, then shut down actinic, deleted the now out-of-date site1 and copied my recent site1 folder back into sites. Snapshot now working again.

If you do have to go for a re-install, don't forget to re-install the appropriate patches so your actinic version is the same as before!

                          This worked for me:
Next time you might want to try: go to last product in content tree, delete the weight or another simple field, click apply, then type back info and click apply. Go to the first product in the content tree and do the same. Compact, open and back up snapshot.
