Modifying Multiple Components

In our cataloge we have about 200 items but within each item there is a component call gift wrapping. I need to make a change to this globally. Is there anyway of doing this or creating a new component which affects the catalog globally.

If the component is made up from an existing product called say "grit wrap" then simply update the one product and the rest will change (assuming you have the pricing model set to sum of product and components against each product)
