running total before checkout

Hi,

Has anyone come across a way of giving customers a running total before they add a product to the checkout. What I would like to do is as a customer selects choices for a product an updated total is shown on the product page. I have seen it on another site but I am not sure how it works.

Thanks for the reply. But I was hoping to learn some script. Also I want to use it on a few sites so I am not sure how cost effective it would be to buy add ons at this stage.

It isn't trivial. 11 JavaScript functions spread over 180 lines of code, 6 Custom Properties and 9 Templates need changed. It can be licensed multi-site.
