Session files

Is there such a thing a having too many session files on your server?

We run them over 24 hrs and usually have between 300-500 dependant on time of day/week etc. Can having too many slow things down?

I am not a server techi, so this might be down the server specifics, but we have a site which has on average a thousand session files on the go, with all the usual save carts and the likes, so do not believe that Actinic has any limit, but would be down to the hosting enviro you are in I would guess, unless a server tech knows different.

Also, what OS are you on? Linux / Windows?

We're on linux. We have not had anyone report any specific problems but thought we would ask anyway!
