Changes made to Act_Primary.html not showing up

    Hi there

Hoping someone can help me with this puzzle which is driving me demented.

I have had to move a site to a different PC. Have imported the site snapshot OK and all seemed fine until I tried to add a new nav link in the Act_Primary.html file.

The new link is in the Act_Primary.html but does not show up within Actinic. I have done everything I can think of, eg:
closed down Actinic and started it up again (in case it was a refresh problem)
navigated to the correct Site 1 folder, found Act_Primary.html in the root and opened it with Notepad (in case I was somehow editing the wrong file)

I am convinced that I am editing the correct file - but somehow it is not getting through to Actinic...

Any clues would be most helpful

To double confirm your thoughts you could replace the Act_Primary template with the default one and check in preview. Another thing you could try is viewing the page offline (offline page preview) outside of Actinic. Also have you tried clearing your IE browser cache?

The Primary Template in use is from Design / Options / Layouts / Primary Templates.

However these can be overriden on a Section basis, so double-check that you've not got something different set in each Sections Layout / Overall Layout entry.

          Hi there

I have tried what i consider to be the ultimate test, ie removing Act_Primary.html completely from the folder, then opeining actinic, and doing an offline page preview. It still looks fine.

I am flummoxed. Checked your point Norman and they are all using the same template.

Unless anyone can help me out I think I will have to try importing the site snapshot again and taking a backup of the changes I have made since.

I just hope that fixes it.

One more thing, when I imported the snapshot, the site upgrader kicked into action - could that change things?

            Are you using IE7?
This was the problem someone else had recently:
            http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=21598
            Removing it solved that problem.

How do I get the site to preview in IE rather than FF?

To test you can just cut and paste the offline page preview URL from FF to IE. If you open IE first then select offline page preview I would expect it to open in IE - else you'll have to make it your default browser.
I presume you see the same results in Actinic preview as the offline page preview in your FF browser?

Well, it is all fixed and the problem was that I was only previewing part of the site, ie the brochure pages. If I had been looking at the product pages I would have seen that they were indeed being affected by any changes I made in the Act_Primary template.

Doh! Sorry about that. I inherited this site and didn't realise that there was more than one template. As soon as I also changed the Act_BrochurePrimary (it would be useful if it was named PrimaryBrochure and appeared in the same part) then all was well.

Memo to self - preview the whole site, not just individual pages!

Apologies for wasting anyone's time and many thanks for the support
