    Backup failed - help please?

    Hi,

Yesterday after making a few simple changes to my Actinic site I uploaded the site and all seems well. When closing Actinic down I decided to create a new Site Backup but after about 30 seconds I got the 'Actinic Software has encountered a problem...do you want to send error message etc' and then of course it closed Actinic down with no back-up being created. I shut the PC down and tried again but it happened again? Any ideas out there? Grateful for any help. The attached screen shot shows the initial error screen with a reference to a .dll file if that helps.

    Thanks....

    Ian.

    Hi Ian,

Have you tried compacting the databases?

Housekeeping/Compact Databases/both and see if that clears the problem.

      Hi David,

Thanks for the advice, but I have compacted the databases as instructed and the problem is still there.....any other ideas at all?

      Ian.

could you upload the error message as an image rather than doc file.

Some of us don't download docs due to inherent virus/worms/unfriendly scripts etc

          Hi Jo,

For reasons I won't bore you with I can't upload at the moment. The initial screenshot doesn't give much info anyway, the actual script of the error message seems to go on forever and as someone who is quite technology iliterate it doesn't make any sense.

With regards to the word doc it has come from a safe environment, i.e fully virus scanned message and document.

          Any other thoughts?

          Ian.

            Hi Ian,

Sorry I don't have any other ideas - that has generally worked for me.

I'm sure someone will be able to help you!

There used to be a problem with taking a snapshot when a fragment was highlighted in the left hand site window. I had it happen regularly. I think the latest upgrade version addressed it but in any case, I always now highlight the home page before taking a snapshot and have never had it happed since.

This is still an issue as far as I am aware and I always advise people to highlight the home icon prior to doing a snapshot.
