    Orders using Standard SSL?

    Hello there,

This is probably a silly question(!), but if you are ordering via a web site that is under Standard SSL, what physically happens to the orders? I know that under Shared SSL the orders are encrypte on a server - is this not the case with Standard?

Sorry for being a numpty - this is not explicit in the help files I've read.

    Regards,
    J

Order files are always retained on your web site. The main thing is how you get the order details / customer card details, which is either via the Java Applet (but be aware of the issues with those which do not have the Java VM installed), SSL cert bound to your domain, shared SSL from your hosting provider (can be tricky depending on who you use etc), Actinic Shared SSL or even via an online credit card processor, so in all cases, the orders are encrypted and retained on your site til you download them into Actinic.

      Thanks for that information.

At present, we download orders from our first site (shared SSL Actinic hosting). As long as we will be able to do the same from a dedicated SSL domain then we'll be more than happy!

Matching this thread to your other one about SSL and your inexperienced host.

I feel your best solution is to use Actinic Shared SSL (£99 pa) or a PSP.

this way you don't need to secure your site.

Best to continue this in just one of these threads, saves us all making duplicate posts
