Any tips for doing this?

Using the smart theme and have got our site up and running and happy so far with the mechanics of it, although I have plenty of jobs to do to refine the workings.

Now, to the design which I am not happy with at all. This is the next attack. I have initially squared of the standard Smart header bars, which I prefer. Now, what I want to go for is a look like this : www.kiddicare.com with the rounded off boxes. I can't quite get my head around the thinred thing. Any tips?
