is it possible for me to change my front brochure page so that my buttons for
products etc are in the left hand border and bigger

Yes you should be able to just copy the relevant portion from your Act_Primary template to your Act_BrochurePrimary template. You should be able to find it easily if you look for the quick search box.
Backup your template before modifying it.

PS - your link above has a comma in instead of a dot.
