    Consistant navigation required

    Rather than the navigation on my home page list "Other Pages" as a button, I need the other pages to be listed consistantly in the navigation.

    I.e. Rather than:

    Home Page - Other Pages - Products - Login

    I need:

    Home Page - About Us - Special Offer - Links - Products - Login

    I need this to be consistant on each page. Please could someone tell me how this is done?

    Right click on the Home Page (the little house on the site representation on the left) and choose add new Brochure page. Name it About_Us and if you are using standard navigation, a link will be created for you automatically.

    Same is true for each of those suggested Brochure pages int he "Other Pages" demonstration.

      Content of other pages

      Thank you for your help Bill.

      Having done this I see that all content in the other pages is the same as that which I have added to Act_Brochure_Primary as the HTML content for the home page. Is there a way to add different content to these pages?

      Thanks again.

        you need to add the code for your navigation into each act_primary your site uses.

        At a minimum this is act_brochure_primary and act_primary, but may also include other act_primaries as defined in Design|Options|layouts

          Oliver,

          It sounds as though you added your content by editing the Act_BrochurePrimary.html template. You should not have done this.

          The template should contain only the content that you want shown on every brochure page, and you need to use fragments to add in the changing content.

          First thing to do is save your current Act_BrochurePrimary.html off to a desktop text file, then copy the original Act_BrochurePrimary.html file from the Actinic v7\Formats\Themes\ folder for your particular theme.

          You can then copy and paste content from the text file into fragments and common content from the text file to the fresh ActBrochurePrimary.html template.

            Thanks again Bill.

            I have added the fragments to my pages. However, once again I am trapped by the uniformity of the layout. For example if I use the fragment template Act_TextOnly for my home page and add the additional HTML needed to create the look I want and I then use the same fragment template on the About Us page the same HTML appears. I could go through the different available fragment templates and alter each one but I would probably run out of templates and this does not seem like a proffesional solution.

            Ideally I would like blank fragments that I could edit entirely as HTML. I know that this would mean that text and images could not be added via the Actinic layout interface but that would be fine. Is this possible?

            Cheers,
            Oliver

              Oliver,

              If you use a text only fragment, and your 'text' is prefaced by !!< which are the Actinic marker that tells the programme what follows is to be read as html markup, and end the fragment with the ending html marker >!! then you effectively have a blank canvas.

              Sometimes, the box decides to be awkward and decides there is no text in the fragment and starts to complain. I have found it effective to place the cursor in the first line and hit the enter key to introduce a blank line (which apparently IS acceptable text).

                Hi Bill

                I have done what yo suggested but !!< markers just appear in the browser as text. Also the HTML I have added still appears consistently when I use the fragment template on other pages.

                Here is the code from the text only fragment I am trying to edit:

                <!-- TextOnly HTML begin -->

                NETQUOTEVAR:BROCHURE_TEXT

                <table width="550" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
                <tr>

                Can you see were I'm going wrong?

                  Using the !!< >!! is for embedding the code into the text area of a fragment inside Actinic itself... you are adding the code straight into the template by the looks of it which does not require the !!< >!! as this is already HTML

                  Adding the code into the Act_Template will also casue every instance to show the same code... if you want the above code to appear in the 1 place simply add it into the fragment text area using the !!< >!! as outlined by Bill

                    Thanks Jont.

                    I have added the code to the text box in Actinic and it works. It does however mess up the code that it is placed inside on the Act_BrochurePrimary template. The table width is smaller than the one it is nested inside.

                    Do you have any thoughts on why this may be happening?
