I get an error with a new host we're looking at as follows;
The web server returned an unknown response.
Possible Cause:
You are attempting to download orders
before uploading to the web site
Incorrect CGI-BIN URL in the web site details
Incorrect permissions on the CGI script on
the server (UNIX servers only)
Script corruption - Could be caused by:
Binary ftp transfer during manual installation
Incomplete transfer
Garbled transfer
etc.
Old or bad version of Perl running on server
Http server error
Wrong Path to Perl specified in the
web site details
Unknown
Recommendation:
Abort
Resolution:
Check cgi-bin script permissions
Compare cgi-bin script against local script to
check for corruption
Upgrade Perl on server (needs at least 5.002)
Run the Web | Configure Web Site Details command to verify your setup
Re-install the web site
Review server response for hints
The response was:
ErrorThe program
encountered an error while processing this request. Please note the time
of the error, anything you might have been doing at the time to trigger
the problem, and forward the information to this site's Webmaster ([no address
given]).Stat failed.
/shared/volumes/userdata1/2/2869/site/cgi-bin/nq000001.pl: No such file or
directory
Make sure that your scripts have the proper
location for the perl binary on the first line.Your first line should
look like this :#!/usr/local/bin/perlAlso, for any output, you must
have the first strings as "Content-type:
text/htmlnn"
We have the right perl library path but it does look as though the version is outdated, they are changing that for me later this week... didn't think it should be that massive a problem... but FTP is an issue, here's what the host says;
This specific software does not use the standards that other FTP programs
use and it is encountering an issue. It is difficult to configure
mainstream servers to fill the needs of every specific program. Our
engineers focus on enabling all things standard. We have a standard
FreeBSD Operating System. Perl 5.8 which is well above the requirement
this software requests. We have a user-writeable cgi-bin. Which if you
use a normal FTP client you will have no problems modifying files within
the cgi-bin.
Perhaps if you have someone from Actinic attempt to update to your site
they can provide more information why their software is having trouble
with our system as they know their software better than we do. I can tell
you that it is experiencing a hang--up when attempting to CHMOD 755 on that
file it places within the CGI-BIN. Other FTP clients do not experience this
problem.
Any input on this one much appreciated...
Thanks,
Dave.
