    Exporting Products and/or content

    Hello there,

I am designing an online shop for a client. The client has purchased a copy of Actinic so they can update the online store themselves.

I have designed the structure of the site along with graphics using MY copy of Actinic Developer.

The client has also started adding products to THEIR copy of Actinic. They have added lots of products.

Therefore, is there any way you can export the content and (more importantly) the products which i can then import into MY copy of Actinic?

    Thanks in advance.

You can export YOUR theme as a Custom Theme and have them import and then select it.

      Client : File > Export
      You : File > Import

Note that hierachal imports can be a pain in the bum so undertake with care and dilligence ... and get them to stop adding products until the site is ready!

Cor blimey! that was fast - thanks a lot.

So by doing the simple export will just export the data and slot into my design?

        cheers

Absolutely. I've done this a number of times, and it works well. Take a snapshot of both sites before you combine them via the export though.

hmmmm, not quite as simple as that i'm afraid.

We had to bounce it between a couple of PC's with Developer installed.

The tables that were being exported did not map correctly and there was an extra empty database field that was knocking everything else out os synch.

We finally managed it in the end but by more luck than owt else i think.
