    product choices/options

    hi all,

I am selling a watch. I want the user to have a choice of 2 straps... One strap is the standard one with no extra cost, the second strap is an extra £20... But i only want them to be able to choose one or the other, i.e. drop down box or radio buttons... I cannot do it!!!!! i can get 2 check boxes with different prices, but that allows both to be checked... I can get 2 radio buttons, but I cannot seem to be able to attach a different price to the 2 choices... I know this must be possible but I have been trying for hours!!

    HELP!!!!!!!

Under the main product, first of all create a component called say Options, then an attribute called Strap and make that a drop down selection, then add the choices of the 2 straps.

Once you have created that, then go back to the component and permutations tab, and click fill list, which will then show all the possible options.

You can then override the price for the more expensive choice with the additional or total price...

Take a look in the manual which comes with the software as this used to explain this type of set up quite well.

More complex, is when you want to maintain stock or product references for the straps, which is where you create hidden products for the straps alone and then assign them to the permutations as associated product, but that is getting deeper than I can explain right now, but a search on associated products should bring up lots for you to work with if you wish to go that route.

    Hope that helps.

hi thanks for your suggestion, it worked fine!!

Just one more question... If i have seperate products for each strap that are visible in actinic but hidden on the website and in the component premutations tab where it says product, if i linked the strap choice to the actual product would actinic recognise this and monitor the stock levels????

        cheers

If stock monitoring was enabled, then exactly how it would work and in effect if you have it so the item is not available to purchase if out of stock, then when they pick the strap from the drop down and click add to cart, it will say it is out of stock..
