sections and sub-sections

How would I be able to change the layout in a top level section, without changing the layout for the whole section? For example...I want my top level sections to just be text (name and desc. only - no text) but my product sections (I use one product per section) to show image and text as it currently does? Please visit my site for further clarification:

Under childrens section, I want each section link (Toys, apparel, disney movies, learning books etc. to just be text links. But when you enter each section, I want it to remain as is (image above text). When i try and change each section link layout to text only, it also changes the sub-sections below them which are my products.

Tsombo,

The product sub-sections probably have their style set to 'Use Parent' - that's why they change their appearance when you change the parent's style. You will have to set the style for each product sub-section to be Image Above Text.
