    Location of pictures

    Hi guys just a quickie.

I have sub folders in my site one directory which contain my product images. I enter the path from the browse button to show the locaton of a given image this works fine on the local PC, but when I upload to the acatalog directory the images dont upload to the identical sub folder created within my acatalog directory on the webserver. Ftp-ing them to the created folder has no effect either, clicking the properites of an image shows the path pointing directly to the acatalog directory, of course the image does not display because its in the sub folder.

Placing the images directly in the acatlog directory works fine, but with the number of images I have I want to be able to manage them easily by keeping them in there relevant folder. Is there a work around for this?

    Regards

I'm afraid Actinic puts everything (except the Perl scripts - they all go into cgi-bin) into the acatalog direcory on your web server. That means it can get pretty big but should be no problem for a Unix server. I've currently got over 3,000 images on a site with no worries.

There's nothing to stop you from keeping images in lots of seperate folders on the development system.

Actinic will upload the new ones and remove any redundant ones from the server automatically. They'll just all end up in acatalog regardless of where they came from.

Since Actinic manages what's in the servers acatalog directory you don't really have to worry about what's on the server. It should always be the current minimal set of files.

Many thanks Norman. Thats a relief I can manage them on the local PC well enough. Now that has been explained onward and upward.
Its a while scince I have created an Actinic store, bit dissaponted in the upgrade prices though seems a very expensive leap from catalog v4 to business v6, ah well Cest la Vie.

Many thanks for the quick response.
